This theory challenges the belief that human beings showed up about a half a century ago and have remained essentially the same since then. What do you think? Did people appear earlier o later? Hasn't humanity changed since then?

Are you interested in Anthropology and Evolution??

Do you want people to know about your opinion??

Then get ready for debatting!!!

In this section we'll throw questions and propose controversial topics: we are more than ready to discuss with you and to hear what you have to say! So... let's talk!

Let's talk

"Human Evolution Is Speeding Up"

Is "Race" a Useful Concept for Anthropologists?

If we want to debate about this, we first have to clear what a race is:

  • A group of people united or classified together on the basis of common history, nationality, or geographic distribution.

  • A local geographic or global human population distinguished as a more or less distinct group by genetically transmitted physical characteristics.

As you can see, both definitions are true although being so significantly different. Do you think that race has a genetic base or has it only a cultural meaning? And is it a plausible cause for evolutionary divergence?

Biological anthropologist Richard Wrangham and science writer Dale Peterson maintain that sexual selection, a type of natural selection, has fostered an instinct for male aggression because males who are good fighters mate more frequently and produce more offspring than weaker and less aggressive ones.

On the other hand, biological anthropologist Robert W. Sussman regards the notion that human males are inherently violent as a Western cultural tradition, not a scientifically demonstrated fact.

Do you believe in any of these statements? If so, why? Or do you just don't share their opinion and you have arguments for defending your own one? Are we humans really an aggresive species???

We're humans so... let's fight??
